Ingredients

2-3 squares chocolate (white, dark, milk and/or semisweet), shaved
1/3 cup milk, dark or semi-sweet chocolate, for melting
1 cup chocolate milk
1/2 cup milk
2 scoops chocolate ice cream
Whipped cream
Mini marshmallows
Chocolate chips
Chocolate sauce

Instructions

  1. Shave or chop chocolate squares into small pieces and set aside.
  2. Melt the chocolate in the microwave or on the stovetop. While it’s still warm, pour and spread the chocolate on the inside of the glass and around the rim, allowing some to drizzle down the upper portion of the outside of the glass. Stick about half of the chocolate shaving to the chocolate on the rim and outside of the glass.
  3. Add the ice cream, chocolate milk, and milk to a blender and combine until smooth.
  4. Carefully, pour your shake into the glass.
  5. Top the shake with whipped cream and garnish with marshmallows, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, and chocolate shavings. Serve cold with a straw and a tall spoon.

Tips and Substitutions

Chocolate Choices: Don’t limit yourself to just one type of chocolate. Mix it up with milk, dark, or even white chocolate to add layers of flavor.

Chill Ingredients: For an extra refreshing treat, chill your chocolate milk, ice cream, and milk before blending. This helps create a thicker, creamier shake.

Ice Cream Swap: Don’t have chocolate ice cream on hand? No problem! Use vanilla ice cream and add cocoa powder for a quick chocolate fix. A regular vanilla shake would also taste great! Or mix it up even more with another ice flavor you have on hand like strawberry, caramel, cookie dough or another favorite.

Go Nuts: Add a handful of chopped nuts like peanuts, almonds or hazelnuts for extra crunch and flavor.

Dairy-Free Options: Substitute the dairy ingredients (milk, ice cream, chocolate) with your favorite plant-based versions.

Drizzle Variation: Swap out the chocolate sauce for caramel or raspberry sauce for a fun twist on flavors.

Personalize the Presentation: Get creative with your glass decoration! After coating the rim of your glass in melted chocolate, roll it in crushed cookies, sprinkles, or crushed candies.
