What makes brownies more fudgy?
Fudgy brownies have a higher fat-to-flour ratio than brownies with a more cakelike texture. In a brownie recipe, that means you’ll want more fat in the form of butter and chocolate.
A cakelike brownie has more flour and often uses baking powder for leavening. As you’ll see in our recipe below, there is plenty of butter and chocolate!
What are the best nuts for fudgy brownies?
Nuts add flavor and texture to brownies. In a fudgy brownie recipe, using nuts will add a nice crunch and help to balance out the rich chocolate flavor.
This recipe uses walnuts, but other types of nuts can also be used. Other common nuts used in brownie recipes are almonds, pistachios, macadamia nuts, pecans and peanuts.
Are brownies better with oil or butter?
Our recipe used butter, not oil. While using either butter and oil can result in a moist, tender brownie, but butter is a better choice because it helps the batter to rise.
